Michael Pollan is the guru of examining food and what society eats. He has written several books. The one I am most excited about at the moment is Food Rules, An Eater's Manuel.
It is short and sweet, and simple. In the book he has 63 rules for eating closer to the earth -- and moving away from manufactured, science produced food. I like it.
I am starting a local meeting in Santa Cruz, CA called The KickStart Club. The weekly meeting is going to be a Tuesday night meeting, beginning September 7, 2010, where we focus on personal development around food and fitness and everything else.
I will be using Michael's book as my challenge of the week for the group. I will present one challenge a week to the group to try on just for 7 days. For example -- rule number 20: It's not food if it arrive through the window of your car. The challenge of the week is to not hit the drive-through! I love it.
Michael's basic premise is Eat Food. Not too much. Mostly Plants.
