5:00 am came early today -- well, it comes early everyday.
But I made it up in time to meet my friends, Sonia and Anna for an early am road bike ride. With the threat of someone egging your house if you are a no-show -- well, it makes you take it seriously.
It has been a long time since I put on biking gear and hit the road bike in a serious way. Years back, early 90's, Curtis and I spent hours each day on the bike -- riding miles and miles and miles. And then one year, we stopped. Most likely due to burn out.
Last night we found the large storage box with all the bike clothes and I pulled out a well worn jersey, padded pants and dusted off my cob-webbed old-school clip-in shoes.
It was great -- at 5:30 in the morning, there aren't really any cars, you can hear the birds -- except when my heavy breathing took over -- and if it wasn't foggy it would have been prime sunset time.
When I first got my bike -- I did not like the color -- still not overly fond of it. To jazz it up -- I put a bunch of Grateful Dead stickers on it. That was SO where I was in the 90's.
Since it is 2010, I think I am going to look for stickers that represent me now.
It felt great to be on the bike!
In fact, I'm going again on Thursday at 5:15 -- still under the threat of an egg.

Actually I will be eating that egg for breakfast Thursday morning along with some bacon. It was great to have you with us and it just gets a bit easier each time we go.

I just got off my bike - hubby and I rode to the library, a circuitous route. I really enjoy taking long rides with him. Except for the saddle soreness:(
