I am addicted to Lance Armstrong's Live Strong website - www.thedailyplate.com
My friend, Cindy, told me about it. I have counted points for years and years and years to help me lose or maintain my weight loss. Since leaving WW over a month ago -- I wanted to shake things up a bit.
The way The Daily Plate works is that you enter in your height, your weight, your age and then select your desired goal: Lose X amount of weight, maintain your weight, or gain X amount of weight. It then tells you how many calories you need to focus on to specifically achieve that goal.
You can then enter in the food you eat and the database tells you how many calories you have remaining. If you enter in your exercise -- then it will tell you how many calories you burned.
And best of all -- it is free!
One thing I know is that losing weight is all about calories in and calories out. With the WW points system -- many things come out to zero points -- even though they still have calories. Or often I would say : It's only 1 point, I'll eat it. But that one point could be 100 calories. So this new form of tracking for me is working great.
It will also tell you how much sodium, carbs, protein and fat you are consuming.
I am aiming for 1.5 pounds weight loss a week which puts my calories at 1407 a day.
Interesting. The one thing that I can honestly say -- I have actually tracked ketchup for the first time in years.
(The screen shot above, it not a capture of my personal data -- just an image I found on the internet).
The main thing with food awareness is to be aware -- and whatever method you choose to pay attention to what you eat -- make it fun and interesting and you will most likely do it the next day.
